Dr. Cathy S. Banks is a business owner, non-profit founder and has served as the Campus Director for the Life Christian University - Lake Charles extension campus for over nineteen (19) years. She is driven by a need to see equitable educational opportunities for students of all ages and backgrounds. Since 2018, Cathy Banks has been advocating for the expansion of charter schools and other educational innovations that give Louisiana parents the right to decide on the quality of education their children receive.

Dr. Banks has her Doctorate degree in Divinity and Christian Theology from Life Christian University near 

Tampa, FL. She also earned a Master’s in Pastoral Studies from the same institute. Then in 2022, she added a second Bachelors in Christian Counseling and then went on to become a certified Counselor. 

While reaching her educational achievements, Dr. Cathy has been serving as the CEO of Liberty Plaza
Properties, a commercial leasing company, since 2005. 

 

• She has founded multiple non-profits that have all received state/federal approvals as qualified 501c3 
  charitable organizations; that are still active today. 

• In 2019, she was selected by Thomas Nelson Publishing, a leader in Christian Publications, to contribute to its first Daily Devotional for Women.  

• Then in 2020, she became a certified John Maxwell Life Coach.

• In 2022, she and her husband founded a business center in Monrovia, Liberia (West Africa). During a July economic relief visit, the Vice President of Liberia revealed that a new Elementary through Middle School was to be named in her honor of Dr. Cathy Banks. 

• In April of 2023 she returned to Liberia to host a global leadership conference in conjunction with other women leaders from Nigeria and West African countries.  

• Upon returning from this expedition, Dr. Banks was honored to help launch an Empowerment Training Center for Women in Monrovia, Liberia which opened its doors in May 2023. This center specializes in training courses teaching sewing, tailoring, and clothing design skills, cooking/catering skills and hair design with the purpose of creating first-generation female business owners.

Despite the project, Dr. Cathy will tell you herself that she is simply a servant of Christ first, a devoted wife to her husband Dr. Joseph Banks and mother to their son Kirkland Banks (Professional MLB Draft League Player) second, and a champion for education wherever she can be of service. Everything she does is to advance one of these roles in her life.
